The EU co-financed pilot project started in February 2013 with the focus to develop social services in Tajikistan. The aim of the project was to improve the living conditions of children and youth with disabilities. Adjusted towards the needs of the target groups, four social centres were initialized. Important aspects of the project included trainings for parents with disabled children and the building of capacities for social workers. Up to 2000 children participated in the social services and about 600 parents and nursing staff were trained during the project. The project was implemented with the financial support of the European Commission, the Internationaler Bund (IB) as well as further foundations.
